In Memoriam: Jerry Steinholtz

It is with sincere regret that we announce the passing of Paiste artist Jerry Steinholtz. The renowned percussionist, educator and Co-Director of Percussion at the Los Angeles Music Academy (LAMA) in Pasadena, California passed away on Friday, December 6th – he was 76. Jerry Steinholtz joined the Paiste family in February of 1988.
Jerry's extensive playing experience and insight into the music business at all levels (touring with acts, TV, films, records, etc.) led to being asked to teach Latin and Brazillian hand percussion at California State University, Northridge (CSUN) for the past 18 years. He started the percussion program at Dick Grove's School of Music in Van Nuys, California, and ran the program for five years. Most recently he served on faculty at Hamilton High School Academy of the Arts in Los Angeles, and was Co-Director of Percussion at the internationally known Los Angeles Music Academy (LAMA) in Pasadena, California. His extensive teaching and personal commitment to education had kept him in contact with the mainstream of up-and-coming young players.
